Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor when she was six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing as well as dancing, and also acting. As early as age ten the actress took part in and played the leading role in numerous Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been chosen for these parts. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It also was the film that was most popular during 2001. The opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by critics and the performance of three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma later won five awards in recognition of her work in the film.
